Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Inland -- M-1 CARBINE "L" SIGHT ALL ORIGINAL C&R

C&R LISTED!! This is an Inland manufactured M-1 carbine in 30 Carbine caliber. It was purchased directly from an estate as shown. Dust and storage dirt where very uniform and untouched all over the carbine when we received it. The sling that is present has never been completely removed by us. The carbine is in the 5,028,XXX serial number range. The serial number is in a block of numbers assigned to Inland for the period of manufacture from January, 1944 through August, 1944 (4,879,526 through 5,549,820). We have researched all the parts and components assembled to make up this carbine as marked and shown in J.C. Harrison's fine book, "The M1 Carbine III". All woods and marked parts inside and out are correctly marked or unmarked (safety button unmarked) as Inland components were for the period of manufacture with the exception of the rear sight. The rear "L" sight is "NA" marked for National Postal Meter. Harrison's book shows this part to be a correct "Lateral Support" component for the period of manufacture as a total of 26,000 National Postal Meter "L" sights were sent or delivered to Inland in the first part of March, 1944. There are no staking marks around this sight to ever indicate that the rear sight was ever replaced with an adjustable rear sight and then retrofitted to an "L" again. The barrel is marked "Inland Mfr Div General Motors" and dated 2-44. The TYPE "B" barrel band is correct for this period of manufacture, and the "P" barrel proof would have been covered by a TYPE C bayonet lugged barrel band if one were ever fitted to this barrel on another later carbine. If one looks closely, there is a light coat of old varnish on the woods. This is the only thing that has ever been done to this WWII carbine for what we can see. The bore is bright and the mechanics appear to be fine. The metal parts finish is excellent and original. This carbine shows some normal carry and field use overall. There is no damage or repair that we see. The woods have no cracks or chips. An excellent WWII Inland M-1 Carbine that sure looks like it saw use in the field. Sure to fit in your collection if you have been looking for an earlier "L" rear sight M-1 carbine that has had no parts exchanged or replaced since leaving the factory in 1944. Sure to please. USPS, ground, priority rate, insured shipping with delivery confirmation for this item TO MANY U.S. addresses will be approximately $45.00. We will confirm shipping and packaging costs when we know the high bidder's zip code. C&R LISTED!! NO RESERVE!! Please see our other firearms being offered on Auction Arms at this time. If you are using a C&R license for purchase and receipt, please read our C&R document requirements under our "Terms of Sale" below.

TERMS OF SALE
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING

By bidding and purchasing anything from us, you as a Buyer agree to our Terms of Sale and Return Policy shown here. We assume no legal liability for any errors or omissions in the description of any item. PLEASE REVIEW ALL OF THE PHOTOS. THIS IS THE ITEM YOU WILL RECEIVE, AND THE PHOTOS ARE A PART OF THE DESCRIPTION. No items are being offered for sale where any Federal, State or Local Law prohibits them from being sold. You as a perspective Buyer must be 21 years of age or older to purchase any antique (pre-January 1, 1899 manufactured) or modern (January 1, 1899 and later manufactured) firearm, ammunition or edged weapon from us. ALL FIREARMS are sold as Collector Items Only. NO firearms sold by us - antique or modern (that is pre or post January 1, 1899 manufacture) are warranted for any type of shoot ability or other use under any circumstances. We only make visual inspections for selling description purposes. No firearms we sell have been test fired by us. If a Buyer wishes to fire or use any firearm purchased from us for any purpose other than display, the Buyer must have that firearm and all its features related to shooting and safe handling inspected and certified for safe shoot ability or other specific use desired by a FEDERALLY LICENSED GUNSMITH of their choosing. Such certification shall be between the BUYER and that FEDERALLY LICENSED GUNSMITH.

FOR MODERN FIREARMS PURCHASES NOT CURIO AND RELICS LISTED

A signed copy of an FFL license is required for shipping to the address on the license. The FFL license must be signed and sent to us in the mail, or it may be signed and faxed to us. We prefer an original signed copy as many faxes are not readable as many of you know.

FOR CURIO AND RELIC LISTED FIREARM PURCHASES AND ANTIQUE CARTRIDGE FIREARM PURCHASES

If the firearm being sold is classified as a Curio and Relic under federal law, it may be able to be shipped directly to the Buyer if the Buyer has a Federal Class 3 Curio and Relics Collector License, and the firearm is legal to be received and possessed in the Buyer’s State under that State’s State and theBuyer’s Local Laws. We will not accept faxed C&R license copies. If the Buyer wishes to use a C&R license for receipt of C&R listed firearms or an ANTIQUE CARTRIDGE FIREARM (pre-1899 manufactured) is being purchased, we also require an ink signed statement and copy of some form of identification such as the Buyer’s State driver's license or State I.D. card to verify the ink signed signature on the license copy and Buyer’s statement. (We require an ink signed statement because we cannot verify C&R license information via the ATF E-Z CHECK SYSTEM.) The statement required must state that the particular firearm being purchased (name the firearm in the statement) is legal to be received and maintained by the Buyer under the State and Local laws were it is being sent (the address on the C&R license). We ask for this statement and its signature verification because we cannot know all State and Local laws ourselves. (If we sell and deliver a firearm to or through an FFL dealer, it is the FFL dealer’s responsibility to deliver the firearm in accordance with their State and Local laws. When we sell and ship directly to a C&R license holder, it is our responsibility.) Please don’t take any offense. We are just trying to stay in business.

PAYMENT

We will hold items five (5) business days for the payment of the purchased item and its shipping cost, license receipt and any other documentation required to complete the transaction. We prefer bank checks or postal money orders. Personal checks are deposited for 10 business days (Monday-Friday) before the item is shipped. We do not accept credit cards at this time in order to keep expenses lower. We cannot accept PAY PAL for firearms sales. Illinois purchases are subject to 9.25% sales tax if no resale certificate is presented.

SHIPPING

We normally ship all firearms via the U.S. Postal Service, Priority Rate, Ground, Insured with Delivery Confirmation. The total approximate delivery cost including packaging cost (mostly for many long guns), and insurance listed in each auction is for delivery to MOST addresses in the United States. Depending on the high bidder's delivery address zip code and final insurance costs, the total delivery cost may be more or less than that shown in the description text of each auction. We check and verify the packaging, insurance, and delivery cost of each auction after the auction is complete.

INSPECTION AND RETURN POLICY

There is a (3) day Monday through Saturday non-firing, non-disassembly inspection beginning with the day of first attempted delivery to the addressee. We will not accept a return if the reason is for something that is mentioned in our description of the item or is clearly visible in one or more of the photographs presented in the auction advertising for the item. No shipping costs will be reimbursed by us. It is the Buyer’s responsibility to have the purchase inspected within the three (3) day inspection period. We must be notified of the Buyer’s intention to return an item at the end of the three (3) day inspection period. Please do not return any item until we acknowledge the notice of intention to return as there may be no one here to receive the item if there is an emergency or other uncontrollable circumstance. We will make allowances for the return of any item of course in such circumstances. All items must be returned in the exact condition as received. It is the responsibility of the Buyer to repack the item in such a manner that it is not damaged during its return. The returning shipper and class of service used must be the same as used by the seller in shipping to the addressee unless another means of return is agreed upon by the use the seller. The Buyer must insure the item being returned for its fully purchased value in U.S. dollars. No item may be returned that has been fired, disassembled, damaged or its accessories damaged or removed. This includes damage to original boxes, paper items and accessories that were part of the sale. Damaged shipments may require inspection at the addressee’s premises. Please keep all original shipping materials until we know they are no longer needed for inspection. We very seldom have anything damaged in shipment, and we seldom have anything returned.

OUR BACKGROUND

We have been federally licensed firearms dealers for over 35 years dealing in antique and modern firearms, edged weapons and their accessories. This is our full time business. Though we direct our business toward the older collectibles, we do purchase many contemporary firearms that are recently discontinued or at times still in production. We offer nothing that is new from a distributor. Everything we offer for sale is pre-owned.

QUESTIONS

We will try our best to present the condition of all items offered through our descriptions and photos. If there are any questions, please direct them to us. We will try to answer all emails. We prefer to handle all correspondence via emails if at all possible. We may be unavailable on some weekends to answer emails. We will not close auctions early. We have no public sales facilities for viewing or purchase. All items must be shipped. We reserve the right to re-list any item if the Auction Arms.Com web site is unavailable at anytime during the last 12 hours of any of our auction closings.

FEEDBACK

We will leave FEEDBACK for all Buyers, and trust they will do the same for us. We leave FEEDBACK at the end of the three day inspection period, or sooner if we receive an email before the end of the three day inspection period stating that the item is acceptable and being kept.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BIDDING!!
