It has a full round barrel secured with 2 barrel bands, full walnut two piece stock with steel cap on forend. The frame is steel with sling swivel on front of trigger guard.
The condition of the barrel is excellent(bright) with only the cleaning rod and rear sight missing. The stock is in excellent condition. The extractor mechanism is missing but the gun functions when hammer cocked. A very fine, early military rifle which may well have been submitted for military trials versus what later would be adopted – the Springfield Trapdoor U.S. rifle.
