Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Model 1913 -- Commercial 7.65 mm (.32 ACP) Semi-Auto Pistol C&R

LSB#: 111221MW06

Make: J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Suhl

Model: 1913 Commercial

Serial Number: 112130

Year of Manufacture: Ca. 1915

Caliber: 7.65 mm (.32 ACP)

Action Type: Semi-Auto, Single Action

Markings: The top of the slide is marked "J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Suhl." with an oval shaped relief of a Knight holding a staff. The left side of the slide is marked "Patent.". The left side of the frame is marked with the serial number "112130". The right side of the frame, behind the trigger, shows a crown over "N". The base of the mag well contains an "E". The back of the cocking knob is marked with a Crown over "N". No import marks are found.

Barrel Length: 3”

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a fixed blade front sight, and a rear sight notch on a spring which retains the cocking knob.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are hard rubber and are marked with the "S & S" logo. The checkering is sharp, there are some usage dings, but there are no cracks or losses. The grips rate in about very good overall condition. These panels attach in an interesting way. The screws are attached to a bar, which turns 90 degrees to free or lock the grips to the frame. This is factory correct, just interesting and worth a mention.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: All Original

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp, though just a bit worn. There is a hint of erosion ahead of the breech, but this is very light.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 75% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows wear at the muzzle and the leading edge of the frame, just below the slide. There is some dulling of the fire blue on the rear sight, and is still vivid on the safety. There are some scratches and thinning on the right side of the frame, below the slide. There is some pinprick erosion on the left side of the barrel. The screw heads are used but in good condition with little disfiguration. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about very good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this gun.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: One magazine is provided.

Our Assessment: This is a very nice older J.P. Sauer & Sohns semi auto pistol from the era when everyone was trying to figure out automatics. These guns have a good reputation and were made in the days of quality machining and from the country known for quality machining. The barrel is good, the markings are good, and the gun has a great all around original but strong condition appearance. Here is a chance to obtain an early German made auto.
