Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Sporterized WWII Japanese -- Type 99 Arisaka .30-06 SPRG Millett Collection

LSB#: 111202LM07

Make: Arisaka

Model: Type 99

Serial Number: 1064

Year of Manufacture: WWII

Caliber: .30-06 SPRG

Action Type: Bolt Action, Internal Magazine

Markings: The top of the receiver is marked in Japanese “Type 99”. The left side of the barrel at the receiver is marked “30 06”. The left side of the receiver is marked “1064”.

Barrel Length: 22 ½”

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a Redfield front sight ramp with a raised bead blade. The rear sight is a Lyman receiver sight. The sight is parkerized and is in good condition. The sight is presently loose and needs to be tightened to the receiver. The previous rear sight has been removed and there are two unfilled screw holes present.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are one piece dark wood with cheekpiece and semi-pistol grip. There was a repair nicely done to the right and left sides of the stock at the bolt. There are just a few storage and handling marks. The LOP measures approx. 14 ¾” from the trigger to the back of the rubber Pachmayr butt pad. The fit of the stock leaves a bit to be desired when looking at the bottom of the stock. The stocks rate in about good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Re-Blued

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp and deep. There is no apparent erosion.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 90% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows wear and discoloration on the bolt. The bolt has been finished in the “purple” straw color. The gun shows some metal wear under the finish, but very little wear to the blue. The screw heads are in good serviceable condition, a few show wear and minor disfiguration. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this gun.As with any gun that has been converted a gunsmith can usually give you a qualified opinion as to firing condition.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: There are sling swivels and studs installed.

Our Assessment: here is a practical, light weight and strong rifle in the American favorite .30-06. This rifle comes from the collection of Medal Of Honor recipient Col. Lewis Millett. A certificate signed by the family stating this will be provided with this gun, listing the gun by serial number. The Arisaka action is considered to be strong. This rifle will make a good entry level/back-up hunting rifle for camp this year – A Medal of Honor recipient was the last to shoot this rifle, perhaps you’ll be the next.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This rifle is transferable in California.
