This is a Mossberg Model 185KB, bolt-action 20 gauge shotgun. The gun has a font bead sight with a receiver mounted rear sight, removable box magazine, safety mounted at the top rear of the bolt and a 26" smooth bore barrel that is chambered for 2-3/4" shells. There is an adjustable choke, which can be adjusted for IMP MOD, MOD or FULL on the end of the barrel (see photos). The bore is smooth and shiny and in good condition. The gun has its original magazine, however the spring and follower are broken (see photos). We do not have a replacement magazine for this gun.
Blue on the barrel and receiver is about 80% and thinning with some scratches and some light rust on the receiver (see photos). Other than the light scratches and light rust, the metal is in good condition (see photos).
The gun has a uncheckered one-piece hardwood pistol grip stock. There are no cracks in the stock, but there are numerous handling marks and some scratches in the stock. The finish is also worn on the sides of the stock at the butt (see photos). There is a black rubber recoil pad on the stock, which has hardened over the years. L.O.P. is 13-5/8".
The gun appears to be fully functional and intact, except for the damaged magazine. Overall the gun is in good condition mechanically and fair in appearance, however it could use a good cleaning inside and out. Serial #NONE. STK. #21431.
Pick-up a magazine, clean this one up and it’s ready to be taken to the field. If you wanted to spend the time this Model 185KB would also make a decent project gun.
