Here we have a very nice Remington rolling block No.1 Sporting rifle chambered for the 40-50 Sharps. the rifle has a 26 inch full octagon barrel. is it 7/8 inch diameter across the muzzle. the barrel is very nice, exterior mostly plum brown. No pitting or rust. The bore is very sharp, with strong rifling, with a very minimal amount of pitting. Has the original rear folding sight with the small peep disc. The front sight is all original. The frame shows the case hardening, which is now in a silver mottled state. Screw heads are all sharp, action works perfect. Butt plate is all original. Forearm has metal tip, Bottom of the barrel is marked .40 for the caliber size. The top barrel flat is marked E. Remington & Sons Ilion, New York. The wood is very nice, with just minor scratches, no heavy dents or repairs, has some nice figure in the butt. This is a very nice Remington No.1 Sporting Rifle in a nice caliber and an antique in excellent condition.
