NO RESERVE!! Here's a scarce one for the Winchester collector! This is an early production (1st year) Winchester Model 61 slide-action repeater. Manufactured in 1932, this rifle is factory fitted with a 24" octagonal barrel that is chambered for .22 Long Rifle. The vast majority of the Model 61's were made with round barrels, chambered for .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle. This rifle is all original with the exception of two holes drilled and tapped in the barrel just ahead of the receiver. These were no doubt used to mount a scope block (the rear block would have been installed using the factory drilled and tapped tang holes). The original blue finish rates about 90-94% overall with some minor handling wear to the bottom of the receiver and a small rub in the finish on top of the receiver. There is a small amount of finish wear at the edge of the muzzle but there is no rust or pitting. The stocks are in very good shape overall. There is a tiny, rather insignificant crack behind the upper tang and the varnish has thinned. The wood does not appear to have been sanded or refinished. Mechanically excellent, this rifle has an excellent bright bore and would make an excellent shooter as well as a scarce Winchester collectible.
