The gun you are looking at is a Smith & Wesson Model 57, which is a 6-shot .41 MAGNUM revolver. This Model 57 has a 8-3/8" pinned barrel and a recessed cylinder. The bore is in very good condition with crisp rifling. The gun also has a target trigger, target hammer and fixed red insert front sight with adjustable white outline rear sight (see photos).
The left-side of the barrel is stamped with "SMITH & WESSON". The right-side of the barrel is stamped with "41 MAGNUM" and the right-side of the frame is stamped with the Smith & Wesson Trade Mark (see photos).
The gun has 95% of its original highly-polished blue finish. There is some blue wear at the muzzle on the sides of the barrel (possibly from holster wear). There are also some very small scratches in the sides of the barrel, otherwise the highly-polished blue finish on the gun is in very good condition (see photos).
The gun has Pachmayr rubber finger groove grips with Pachmayr medallions on each side. The grips are in good condition with crisp checkering and no rips, tears or gouges (see photos). We do not have any original S&W wood grips for the gun. The auction is for the gun only as we do not have a box or papers for the gun.
Overall the gun is in excellent condition mechanically and very good in appearance. Serial #N706025. STK. #21366.
All you Smith collectors here's your chance to add a nice Model 57 to your collection. On the functional side, this Smith & Wesson would make a choice for target shooters or hunters.
