Our Assessment: The 1861 Navy Model Colt is a good design; lighter, shorter, and handier than the .44 1860 Army Model, this model was preferred by many cavalrymen for its more easy handling and modest recoil. This one appears to have had some amateur gunsmithing done to it; featuring a dragoon style trigger guard, and the trigger has been modified to a straight target trigger type. None of these are major issues, as a shooter, this pistol is a sleek and good handling percussion revolver, plinkers and black powder competitors alike will appreciate the handling and modest recoil.
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This gun can be transferred in California and is classified as an antique and can be sold to anyone 18 years of age with valid ID.
