Without a doubt one of the finest pre war COLT, "MATCH TARGET WOODSMAN" pistols you will see, AND it can be yours as it is selling with NO RESERVE. This is a heavy barrel, 1st Model, also known as the "BULLSEYE MODEL". Serial number MT 8725 dates it to 1940. This pistol was part of the grouping of the COLT OFFICER's MODEL 22 cal and 38 cal, that were also produced in 1940 and owned by the same person. I would easily rate this pistol at 99.9% condition. It is fitted with checkered walnut target grips. Because of the size and shape of the grips, they were nicknamed "ELEPHANT EAR" grips. It is VERY rare to find a set of these grips still in excellent condition, as the lower section of the grips were very fragile and easily damaged. Included is the original box that is numbered to the gun. As shown the owner reinforced the box lid with tape, although the box appears fully intact so I guess the tape could be removed and the box restored if the buyer wishes. Included in the box is the instruction manual and another COLT pamphlet. DO NOT miss out on this superb pistol. Check out my other auctions to see the other COLT revolvers that are from the same owner. I'll need the buyer to provide a signed FFL or C&R and include $30 shipping and insurance, CA SALES OKAY!!! NO RESERVE!!!
