I am selling my beloved Yugo M48 Sniper rifle. This rifle was built shortly after WWII in Yugoslavia on Mauser tooling equipment taken from the Third Reich following their defeat. This, which in no way was a Nazi weapon, was quickly rendered obsolete by the SKS when Yugoslavia found itself behind the Iron Curtain. Most of these rifles were never used and were packed away for 65 years before being shipped to the U.S. The rifle was considered so accurate that some, not those sent to America, were used in the Serbian war by sharpshooters in the infamous "Sniper's Alley." This was the last Mauser rifle made for military use. As some collectors and shooters know, old military rifles can be difficult to shoot because of their sights. The Serbs fixed this by developing a special turret mount for attaching a telescopic sight. This mount not only allows for quick removal of the scope, but also bolt clearance which can often be hard on a Mauser. This rifle was purchased in America in 2004 directly from the former Yugoslavia. The rifle was still coated in Cosmoline which I have carefully removed to ensure proper care of the stock. The serial numbers on this rifle all match and are shown on the receiver, bolt and buttstock. This rifle has NEVER been fired with corrosive ammunition. When I fired it, I used hand-loads made with modern components. With the Iron sights it shot at approximately 2 3/4 MOA. With the telescopic sight, it groups consistently at 1 1/2 MOA. These were measured with 3 shot groups CTC. I fired this rifle 171 times according to my range records and is currently zeroed for 600 meters. All parts are original including sling and cleaning rod. All serial numbers match. Zrack turret mounts were imported and professionally installed with an American 6x Weaver scope from the early 1960's to retain a vintage look. A rubber buttplate and adjustable cheek piece can be attached for added comfort and eye relief. (both included) If you want 1970's era Yugoslavian 8mm surplus corrosive ammunition, I will include this as I have a few hundred rounds, but I have never used it and can't comment on its accuracy. (additional shipping charge) Everything pictured is included and if you want to know more I will be happy to answer any questions. This is a very wonderful rifle and I am sad to part with it but I am moving overseas and can't take any of my rifles with me. This is a private sale but must be shipped to an FFL. Shipping is 70 dollars in a sturdy hard case. THANKS FOR LOOKING!!!!!!!!!!!
