Markings: The barrel is marked “CAI ST. Alb VT / 1938 German 8mm”. The receiver ring is marked with the star and crescent and “T C / AS FA / K. Kale / 1942”. The left side of the receiver ring is marked with the serial number “91609”. The top of the bolt handle is marked “7547”, the bottom of the bolt flat is marked “0 C”. The serial number is found on the top and bottom of the rear sight. The bottom of the trigger guard is marked “1609”.
Barrel Length: 29 ½”
Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a blade in a dovetail slot on a raised post front sight, and the standard military rear sight with slider. The sight is numbered to “20”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are wood and very dry. There are some heavy gouges on the left side below the rear sight, and on the bottom of the stock at the butt plate and the right side of the buttstock. There are numerous dings, mars, and scratches. The wood is dark brown and rough in several places. The LOP measures approx. 13 ¼”. The stocks rate in about fair overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is gray and the rifling is deep. There is light erosion in the grooves. This may improve with some elbow grease.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 20% of its metal finish, mostly on the barrel. The balance of the finish shows thinning, wear and pinprick erosion. The barrel shows thinning and some roughness on the top along with some minor surface erosion. There is light erosion scattered around the bolt and back of the receiver. The trigger guard and floor plate show much surface rust. The sling swivels show rust as well. The screw heads are in good serviceable condition with most showing just minor use and little disfiguration. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about fair condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this gun.

Our Assessment: This is one of the early guns produced by Turkey after the war. This model is closely related to the German K98. This is a seldom encountered Mauser and was used by Turkey when becoming a member of Nato. This gun should have good appeal for the Mauser collector.
