For US Civil War muskets + Trapdoors- Rare old ORIGINAL 1800s Civil War musket small SEAR SCREW, for all US Springfield type 1855-1865 .58 muskets, + 1866-1872 50-70 Trapdoors. Also, exact perfect fit for all 1873-1893 45-70 Trapdoors, if shortened slightly. The Trapdoor 45- 70 screws were actually shortened Civil War musket screws. You can easily shorten them by by grinding the ends slightly, + smoothing over with fine sandpaper. Fast + easy. This is the longest of the 3 screws that go inside the lockplate, + hold the inside parts on. And, the one most likely to break. Proper name is- Sear Screw. It holds the sear + part of the bridle on to the lockplate. Outstanding condition, near mint, perfect threads + nice slots. Due to the rising costs of Muskets + Trapdoors, many buyers are now requiring an OPEN LOCK INSPECTION before buying. What they see inside may make or break your sale.
