Old original CIVIL WAR 1863 dated thick copper-nickel Indian Head Cent, well used, with CLEAR DATE, having a somewhat dark white rather than brown copper appearance. This Civil War cent had some nickel added in to the copper, + is thick. Regular thickness brown copper Indian cents started in 1864. Full clear 1862 or 1863 date available, no holes. A lot happened in 1863, like Gettysburg. These were the coins carried by the everyday soldier. Now near 150 years old, very hard to find.
