Buyer Tip: If you're the High Bidder in an auction when it closes, don't assume you're the final High Bidder. Someone could outbid you in the final seconds of the auction if your Max Bid isn't high enough. You're not the high Bidder until you've been notified by email that you are. Seller's Description

LOCKPLATE BLANK Undrilled

TRAPDOOR SPRINGFIELD and CIVIL WAR MUSKET Lockplates are VERY HARD TO FIND. Here is an old 1920s reproduction blank undrilled TRAPDOOR 45-70 LOCKPLATE, made 1920s by the famous W. Stokes Kirk, of Phila, in business 1876-1974, selling Civil War, Indian Wars, + Span-Am War surplus. In the 1920s lockplates were drying up, so WSK + Co, made up repros so they could continue to sell Trapdoor 45-70s + .58 Muskets. The larger one was for converting cut-down Model 1842 muskets to Trapdoor carbines. The smaller ones were for Model 1873 + 1884 Trapdoor 45-70s. They are an exact "drop in" fit for ANY original Trapdoors. Also exact fit for Civil War 1861-1865 .58 muskets, but are THINNER. Will still work on Civil War muskets, if you use a Trapdoor 45-70 tumbler, which is identical to the musket tumbler, but a little shorter shank for the thinner 45- 70 lockplate. This lockplate is completely BLANK, with NO HOLES OR MARKINGS. With it comes a hand-printed one-side single sheet instruction paper on how to make a good working 45-70, 50-70, or .58 musket lockplate from it with full details + drawings with all holes positioned correctly, thread sizes, mainspring stud placement, + how to make good substitutions, EVERYTHING YOU NEED to complete it ready for installation of parts. Only a drill + tap. NO heating or machining. This informative Lockplate Paper itself is nearly worth the price. NOTE - As a service, to save you money, if you can get one of these blank lockplates made up today for less money, I can offer just the LOCKPLATE PAPER as described for 2.95 + .99 S+H. Bid 19.99 BUYITNOW on this auction, but send only 2.95 + .99 S+H..... If your Trapdoor or Musket is missing the lock, here is a rare outstanding opportunity to get the hardest part to find. Some substituting can be done for the hammer + internal parts. If just re- lockplating a wall-hanger, just drill one hole to bolt a likely looking hammer to it. Will look fine from a distance. Don`t really need all those internal lock parts that nobody is going to see. I got this from W. Stokes Kirk nearly 40 years ago. Your bid is for your choice ONE of the above 1920s blank Lockplates with free Lockplate Instruction Paper. Well worth more today, if you can find one for sale. Check, MO to- MICHAEL BARNES. NO PAYPAL. No other pics, but let my 4,000+ stoneman61 ebay Feedbacks speak for me. Start it at 19.95. Add 3.95 S+H. NO RESERVE. USA ONLY. Satisfaction Guaranteed. You get ONE, your choice.
