Up for bids is the SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1905, 4th CHANGE (pre VICTORY MODEL), mad in 1939 or 1940. It has BRITISH PROOF markings and is chambered in 38 SPECIAL caliber with a 4 inch barrel. I believe this to be an early LEND LEASE purchase before the BRITISH began to acquire the VICTORY MODELS with 5 inch barrels, Parkerized finish and chambered in 38 S&W caliber. This is an original 38 SPECIAL chambering and has not been converted. Note that the BRITISH filled in the caliber marking with red paint to denote that it was a non stanard caliber from the 38 S&W that was their standard issue. All numbers, including grips, and there are no import marks. This is an interesting gun and it deserves further research. The action works perfectly, excellent timing and lock up and a bright shiny bore with sharp rifling. I'd rate the bright commercial blue at 93% with some speckling as shown. I will need the buyer to provide a signed FFL or C&R and include $20 shipping and insurance. NO RESERVE!!! CA SALES OK!!!
