Rare old original 1864 Confederate 80 caliber lead coated round shots, group of THREE, nice condition. Found years ago by hunters in Tennessee, exact location unknown. Late in the war, with good lead scarce, very hard porcelain with a thin lead coating was substituted in limited circumstances. This porcelain is so hard it can scratch glass! As it is lighter than pure lead, it is effective at close range, but lacks the distant carrying power of the heavier lead. Good display item.
