Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Remington 1903-A3 Sporterized -- .30-06 Bolt Action Custom Rifle Bausch & Lomb, C&R

LSB#: 110909MC5

Make: Remington

Model: 1903-A3

Serial Number: 3376247

Year of Manufacture: 1942

Caliber: .30-06

Action Type: Bolt Action, Internal Magazine

Markings: The top of the receiver is marked "U.S. / Remington / Model 03-A3 / 3376247". The barrel has a "3" on the left in front of the receiver. The end of the barrel is marked “RA", a flaming bomb and "12/42". The bolt flat is marked "B&S / 8". The "8" may be a mark of some sort. There is a "10" and an "R" on the right side of the bolt.

Barrel Length: 24"

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a Bausch and Lomb, Balvar 2.5 - 8x scope. The crosshairs are tapered. The scope optics are clear with no chips. The exterior of the scope has a few small areas where the finish is missing but no dents. The scope is mounted on a Kumarsky Brothers mount and rings. The scope adjusts via the adjustable mount. The original military sights have been removed and are not available.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock(s) is/are custom wood. The stock has a thumbhole and fits very well. There is an older red "White Line" butt pad installed. The butt pad is still functional and the LOP is approx. 14 3/4". There are a few dings and mars but no cracks on the stock. The most pronounced being a small depression on the left side below the cheek piece.

Type of Finish: The barrel and action are military grey / green matte finish. The trigger, safety, and bolt have more blue color.

Finish Originality: All Original.

Bore Condition: The rifling is sharp and deep though the bore is slightly gray. There is no apparent erosion.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 70% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some mottling of the finish on the receiver ring, and where the front sight was removed. The finish is mostly gone on the trigger guard and floor plate. The gun otherwise just shows general handling and storage wear, but certainly no abuse. The Screw heads are sharp and undamaged. The markings are clear but hard to get to because of the mount. Overall, this gun rates in about fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this gun. This gun weighs approx. 9 lbs. 8 oz.

Box & Accessories: A custom stock, B&L scope and mount are included.

Our Assessment: This will make a fine .30-06 hunting rifle, both in performance and appearance. We had fun removing the scope to get to the serial number, not really... The scope is adjustable via the scope mount and is actually quite interesting, with the rear screw used for elevation and the front for windage. The bore is strong and there is certainly a lot of .30-06 ammo available. This may be your newest favorite hunting rifle.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This gun can be transferred in California.
