LSB#: 111010WJ07

Model: 1860 Army Revolver

Serial Number: 54598

Year of Manufacture: Modern Replica

Caliber: .44 Cap and Ball

The right side of the barrel is marked "- Black Powder Only - / Made in Italy". The bottom of the frame is marked with the serial number "54598" and the cylinder is etched with the appropriate naval battle scene, and the various Italian proof marks adorn the frame.

Barrel Length: 8 inches

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a brass blade front sight, with a notched hammer as a rear sight,

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are rather nicely grained wood, apparently walnut, with a semi-gloss varnished finish. There are some minor nicks from storage and handling. The grips rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Finish Originality: Factory Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and shiny and the rifling is sharp and clean. There is no evidence of erosion.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 95% of its metal finish. There is no evidence of holster wear and only slight signs of handling and storage. There is a faint cylinder drag line ring. The Screw heads are sharp but used; the wedge screw shows a bit of wear and use, but is very usable. The markings are clear and detailed. Overall, this gun rates in about fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions smoothly and correctly, although we have not test-fired this gun.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This gun comes with the original box, with a Service Guarantee, instructions, service bulletin, vintage Navy Arms Catalog and a parts list dated 1974.

Our Assessment: This is a well-made, reliable modern reproduction of one of the guns that helped settle the Civil War, or, if you prefer, "the War Of Northern Aggression." The 1860 Army was prized by both North and South for its sleek lines, easy handling, and hard-hitting, man-stopping, .44 Cal. lethality. This gun is in terrific condition, especially for a black powder pistol, and will make a handsome addition to the holster of any Civil War aficionado Civil War re-enactor, or anyone who appreciates the sleek, elegant, deadly-purposeful lines of this large-bore, black powder, cap & ball revolver.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This pistol can be sold in California.
