NO RESERVE!! Here's a British Enfield No.5 Mk1 "Jungle Carbine" that was manufactured in 1945, the final year of WWII. Designed to be a lighter and easier to handle weapon better suited to the difficult conditions encountered in the tropics, this weapon wears a short 20-1/2" barrel (including the flash hider) and weighs nearly 2 pounds less than the standard Enfield No.4. Chambered for the standard .303 British service cartridge, the light weight Jungle Carbine is famous for delivering almost as much punishment to the shooter as to the target. This weapon has matching serial numbers on receiver, butt socket and bolt handle. The latter appears to be arsenal renumbered. The rear sight is correctly marked for 800 yards. The finish is a bit worn with both black and dark green paint still visible in many spots. There is no significant rust or pitting. The stock shows wear, dents and dings, but is sound without cracks and the correct rubber buttpad is present. The are post war British proofs, but no import markings. The mechanics appear to be in good working order and the bore is bright with strong rifling. Comes with a British pattern canvas sling. Buyer pays $25.00 shipping.
