Markings: The barrel is marked "The Marlin Firearms Co. North Haven Conn. U.S.A. / * * * * MOD. 1895GS Cal. 45/70 Govt. * * * * * ". These markings are slightly hidden below the "XS" Lever Scout Rail. The right side of the barrel has the "Warning" info. The serial number "93224954" is found on the upper tang. The rear sight is marked "XS" on one side and "DRC" on the other. There is a picatinny scout rail mounted to the gun and it is marked "XS Lever Scout". The front sight has an "XS" logo on the left.
Barrel Length: 18". The barrel is 3/4" diameter its full length.
Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with replaced sights by XS. The front sight is a "white line" (non-glowing) blade on a mount. The rear sight is a circle on a post that is windage adjustable. There is a second cirlcle post sight provided, and the original sights are retained and provided as well.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock(s) is/are wood in near new condition with sharp checkering and just a few minor handling marks on the buttstock. There is a recoil pad present. The LOP is approximately 13 1/4".

Bore Condition: The rifling is sharp and deep. The bore is bright showing little use. There is no apparent erosion.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows just some minor wear on the lever and some wear to the rear sight, likely from the box. The Screw heads are sharp and undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This gun weighs about 7 1/4" lbs. We did not fire this gun.
Box & Accessories: The original box is retained along with the owners manual and warranty card. The end flap matches the gun. The original sights are complete and also provided. A lock is also included.
Our Assessment: This guns shows little firing. The condition is excellent and this gun is set up nicely with the scout rail and upgraded sights. The .45-70 caliber is potent and has many hunting enthusiasts. This gun is stainless and in this configuration is sometimes referred to as a "guide gun". This is a great condition gun that will make a great shooter. This is the one you want with you on your trip through Alaska.
