Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Advantage Arms Model 422 -- .22 Cal. Modern 4-Barrel Pepperbox Derringer, Rare

LSB#: 110927HM04

Make: Advantage Arms

Model: 422

Serial Number: 3762

Year of Manufacture: 1986-1987

Caliber: .22 Cal. (all but .22 Magnums)br>
Action Type: Break-Top, Double Action, Hammerless Derringer

Markings: The left side of the barrel set is marked, "Advantage Arms USA Inc. / Advantage 422 tm .22 Cal. / St. Paul Minnesota." The serial number "3762" is stamped on the heel of the grip frame. "62" is also stamped on the right lower trigger mechanism, which is visible when open.

Barrel Length: 2 ½”

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a fixed blade front sight atop a rib, with a fixed notch rear sight.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock(s) is/are plain brown wood, with a bit of grain to them. There is one tiny mark on the right grip, just behind the trigger. The stocks rate about excellent overall condition.

Type of Finish: Nickel

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no evidence of erosion.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows a hint of use on the cocking mechanism. Of particular note is the bright nickel finish, which resists wear and discoloration. The Screw heads are sharp and do not appear to have been turned. The markings are clean and legible. Overall, this gun rates in about excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action is not functioning. This gun is being sold “as is”. It does not appear to cock but we have never handled one of these and have no idea how it is “supposed-to” function.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None

Our Assessment: This is a neat idea; a pocket pistol that is simple and safe, with considerable firepower. In fact, we have found ads that proclaim it "The World's Safest handgun." That may be. Not unlike the Mossberg Brownie of the early part of the 20th century, or the COP of more recent years, it's a great idea, and appears to be well designed and executed. A gunsmith or someone with more time that us can likely return this gun to firing condition - easily.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This gun is not on the California roster of “approved for sale handguns”, and can only be transferred to a California resident as a private party transfer at our shop in Simi Valley. This does not apply to out of state buyers.
