Your bidding a nice late Civil War 58 cal. Musket. This gun is a untouched original straight gun to my knowledge/inspection. The gentleman retired this from shooting about 35 years ago. He gave me his load: 60 grains of FG Goex W/Alcan cap with greased patch ball. This shot as well as your typical old single shot with a slug. (rifling w/old corrosion) shootable! but not perfect bore! If you look close you can see rounded inspection cartouche! U stamped barrel bands. Depending how you look at it, the rear barrel band has a deep U stamp over a hand made initial or turn gun and the U might look like a C ?? Barrel measures 39 5/16" Nice straight gun.
