Gun retains a pleasing patina overall with some light surface rust and extremely light pitting. Good working order. Appears to be German silver mounted. .41 caliber. Rifled. 24 inch octagon barrel. Stock is fine with some light handling marks. Has L. Butterfield Lynn, MS on the barrel. The abbreviation for Massachusetts used to be MS in the early to mid 1800's. This gun was probably made around 1850. Has J. Hapgood on the lock. Adjustable rear sight appears to be original. Original front sight with German silver blade. Original patchbox has some pin prick "pitting" although it is a German silver patchbox. Has two holes at the rear of the barrel and one hole on the barrel tang, not sure what they're for. All markings are clear. All original, no modifications. This is a very pretty little gun with a good maker.
