Guns For Sale - taurus 92 model pt100 beretta -- 96 40 cal pt 100

PT 100

Why buy this taurus pt 100 ? Because it's truly (in-spec) which is fairly rare for a production pistol....Is there a difference with the earlier PT100 and beretta 96 "40 cal"....... Yes....when beretta made the M96 40 cal essentially all they did was change barrels... they ran the same slide and 13 lb recoil spring....needless to say this caused problems with the more powerful 40 cal ammo.... Taurus to the contrary made their gun with a super heavy duty slide as well as stouter recoil spg (see 6 pictures for slide comparison)....this makes the original PT 100 far superior to the beretta 96...not to mention the safety/decocker is on the frame of the taurus "where it should be".... I think they went overkill on the 18 lb recoil spring, as the extra mass of slide combined with 16 lb recoil spring is a much better combination...... all in all between the high quality forged steel parts, safety on frame and beefed up slide & recoil spring the taurus pt100 was engineered correctly from the get go...... unfortunatly for the past many years they have also been full of MIM...mentioned below... not this one.... this is the earlier super high quality real forged steel components model... essentially the one that gave taurus pt model a great name......super high quality 40 cal with 2 original high capacity mags, original box, extra wolff 16lb spring installed as well as the original 18lb spring included, also comes with correct leather holster....

This is not an average built gun, i have examined and worked many both taurus and beretta, and many have issues and are not in spec IE: many have improperly fitted barrel or locking lugs with tilt, that makes them shoot left or right... This piece is a fairly rare speciman in that all parts mate correctly and gun is fully in-spec ... shoots to exact point of aim, barrel seats perectly, slide mates perfect, and locking lug has correct contact to all points.....this gun has been carried very little, and shot but a few times... total round count about 200, mostly just testing with various hollow point ammo to make sure functioned correctly no matter what amm is used, all worked perfectly... never failed or any hick ups....

Modern day guns are essentially range toys made with MIM which is short for "metal injection mold" steel..... essentially powdered metal thats baked together with plastic binders.... while not nearly as tough or dureable as traditional steel, it costs the manufacturers but a fraction of the cost....ofcoarse if you put your weapon down wrong, you may find your gun broke....... Current manufacture Taurus, Sig, Heckler & Koch, Smith Wesson, Kimber etc. etc. etc..... all use MIM for almost all small parts, IE hammers, triggers, sears, entire fire control groups.... slide stops, safetys... all prone to easy breakage if there is a single flaw to the technical process of making the MIM part..... Some are decent enough for range work or play, but personally i would never trust as a carry weapon... for that you need older real guns of which this.... However the true value is it's build quality, as not all factory guns turn out well, some bad, some good, some just better than others...This particular example is flat out excellent... all parts mate perfectly, these include slide/frame fit, barrel lock up & seating, & locking block mateing... all controls are tight and smooth.... specs out excellent plus, and shows it in performance and accuracy... 100% ready for full carry mode.........

Gun dates to 1992 so as am includeing the 1992 GUN-TESTS mag with the gun

Thumbs up to gun

Some others didnt fare as well

I only shot a few boxes of hollowpoints to make sure was carry mode ready... functioning was 100% flawless....as for the (quirky) magazine... they didnt like the "teflon" coating as they said it was slippery...to that i say (big deal)... take the finish off if wish, only one has it anyway, as other is one i bought, and it is also an original with metal follower....something that is not avail anymore and clearly superior quality to new made mags...the whole gun is far superior to it's modern day counterpart, as well as in full spec.....

you never want sharp 90' angles to contact stress points, this is what you call an intelligent proven mod for this model firearm and makes the locking block much stronger and more dureable, this in combination with even surface contact makes this locking bloc full in-spec and will last the entire life of the gun...

1992 manufacture

SKJ00766

NOTE: current production mags have cheap plastic followers, both these original mags have METAL followers....

Everything checks out much better then most other factory built guns, sometimes they get it right... minor mods were/are slide channels relieved of any burrs before slide was ever racked or gun fired... Wolff 16lb spring installed, as it's a much better weight for a in-spec gun & is 3 pds higher than the 9mm model, this in combination with heavier mass slide is the preferred spring for this gun... Locking lug inspected for proper contact to both sides, sharp 90' angles professionally modified to round surface area "makes much stronger/dureable"... then bead blasted which gives it even more strength and finially given a park finish... Extra factory high capacity mag "both of which" have the desireable metal followers makeing them by far superior to modern counterparts... Lastly leather holster... all pretty much priced at what a new one would cost... Ofcoarse a new one is not near as dureable/reliable or as well made...
