Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - St. Joe's Navy Arms Uberti '66 -- 1866 Winchester SRC .38 Spl Lever Action Rifle

LSB#: 110824NV11

Make: Uberti, Navy Arms

Model: 1866 SRC

Serial Number: 87754

Year of Manufacture: Modern

Caliber: .38 Special

Action Type: Lever Action Rifle

Markings: The top of the barrel is marked "Navy Arms Ridgefield N.J. Made In Italy .38 Spl". The serial number is on the lower tang. The upper tang is marked "Mod 66 Carbine".

Barrel Length: 19"

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a dovetail set front sight with "Old Man Bead" installed and an elevation and windage adjustable full buckhorn rear sight. The rear sight has been turned "backwards".

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock(s) is/are smooth varnished wood. The wood is a bit battered, as this was a primary cowboy shooting gun and shows the battle scars from years of handling, staging and shooting. There are no cracks or splits.

Type of Finish: Brass / Blue

Finish Originality: Factory Original

Bore Condition: The rifling is sharp and near bright, though dirty. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 80% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows wear from gun cart storage and use. This was a primary cowboy shooting rifle and has the battle scars to prove it. There is no pitting or rust, just wear, dings, scratches and scuffs throughout. The Screw heads are sharp, showing turning. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions as designed and feels smooth. This gun has been recently shot in our presence.

Box & Accessories: None, but a leather lever wrap.

Our Assessment: Model 66's may be the best Cowboy Shooting Rifles available (of course the best looking). They can be short stroked with link kits, adding to the already smooth action. This gun belonged to one our best friends, St. Joes Sheriff, who was prematurely taken from us last month. His gun collection is being auctioned through us to benefit his widow and the Happy Trail's Children’s Foundation. Please buy this gun and take it out Cowboy Shooting again in Mike's honor.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This rifle can be transferred in California.
