Make: Harrington and Richardson
Model: Sportsman 999

Year of Manufacture: 1940-1952 ( after 1940 letter codes were used, this is a low serial number "A" code making it perhaps a 1940/1941 gun)
Caliber: .22 Long Rifle, is marked but being a revolver it should shoot everything but magnums.
Action Type: Double Action Revolver, Top Break
Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked "H & R "Sportsman" / Double Action". The right side of the barrel is marked "Harrington and Richardson Arms Co. / Worcester, Mass. U.S.A. and ".22 Long Rifle Ctg.". The serial number is on the frame.
Barrel Length: 6"
Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a pinned blade front sight and a windage adjustable rear sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock(s) is/are one piece plastic in good condition with some dings and mars to the bottom of the butt.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The rifling is sharp and deep. The bore has a little fouling that should clean up well. There is no apparent erosion.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 75% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows pinprick erosion on the frame (both sides behind the cylinder), on the top latch, hammer and trigger guard. The majority of the blue is retained with a bit of surface rust scattered. This should clean up nicely. The Screw heads are sharp and undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about very good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly both single and double action. We did not fire this gun.
Box & Accessories: There is a leather holster included with this gun. It is marked "38" and "6" on the back. We believe it is a tooled "Hunter" holster.
Our Assessment: This gun will clean up well and provide lots of fun. A top break .22, cheap and fun to shoot, with a holster! A good plinker, camp gun even a good home protection gun. Enjoy this gun.
