Markings: The barrel at the muzzle is marked "M39 Finland 7.62x54R / CAI ST Alb. VT.". The barrel ahead of the receiver is marked "218496 / 1942", on the left ahead of the receiver ring, "36 / S 00 / SA". The left side of the sight is marked "86432", the left side of the receiver is marked "218496", the bolt knob is marked "8496". The bottom of the magazine well is marked "35883 / 0921". There is a cartouche on the stock that is marked "SARO with a crown and an "S" and other marks. There is also an "S" in a circle with 4 arrows pointing outward.
Barrel Length: 27 1/2"
Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a protected front sight blade in a dovetail slot, and a long leaf sliding elevator rear sight. All intact.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock(s) is/are wood in servicable condition with plenty of dings mars and gouges. There are heavy compression marks mostly on the left forend at the finger groove. Otherwise, there are no major cracks or losses.

Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The rifling is good, medium depth and sharp. The bore is a little gray. There is some minor fouling that needs cleaning but no apparent erosion.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 30% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows wear and age loss, most of the finish is gone on the top of the rifle. The magazine and trigger guard area show much more blue. The Screw heads are in good condition showing minor use/disfiguration. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this gun.
Box & Accessories: There is a cleaning rod present.
Our Assessment: This is a better than average example of the Model 39. Please see page 68 of "The Standard Catalog of Military Rifles" by Ned Schwing for more details. This gun is shootable right now and is a WWII production rifle. Attention collectors…

Shipping:
USPS Insured shipping will cost $40. To reduce the likelihood of damage during shipping, we disassemble long guns by removing stocks when it is possible & easy and will not damage the wood or screws. We will also break down takedowns. We have had problems with rough carrier handling breaking the stocks at the wrist, and since we have begun to disassemble, we have not had any breakage. All parts will be individually wrapped. If you would prefer to not have your item disassembled, please let us know as soon as you win the bid. We package all merchandise for shipment on the Monday following the sale.
Your gun will be shipped within 1 week of receipt of payment, usually the next day and you will receive an email notification with a tracking number upon receipt of your payment to let you know that we have received it. If you are in Southern California, you are welcome to pick the gun up and complete the transfer at our shop in Simi Valley (unless the gun is not available in California, as noted above).
This gun can only be shipped to an FFL or C&R, and it will be shipped from an FFL. It is your responsibility to ensure that the gun is legal to own and receive in your area. Please include a copy of your dealer’s license with payment. We will need CLFD numbers for CA FFL’s to ship. We are FFL dealers and comply with all Federal, State and Local laws.
We also offer local pick-up and transfers at our shop in Simi Valley, California (when item is California legal).
Payment:
Full payment on non-layaway items is required within 14 days. We accept Cashiers Checks, Money Orders, Cash and Personal Checks. No Credit Cards or electronic payments are accepted.
CA Sales tax applies to CA buyers (7.25%).
Layaways are offered, requiring a 20% non refundable down payment within 7 days of the auction’s close and the balance within 60 days. No returns are accepted on Layaway items.
Successful Bidder Instructions:
You will be invoiced the morning after the sale. This invoice will include totals for the sale and all instructions.
If you win an item and are not willing or able to complete the sale, you will be liable for 5% of the sale price.
Returns (less shipping) are accepted within 3 days of when the item is delivered with signature confirmation. Returns are very costly for both the buyer and for us, so please ask all of your questions before bidding and please be sure you can legally purchase this item.
