Walnut Media -12/20 grit - 20 Pounds with 4 oz Premium Red Rouge + BONUS!
This item is a 20 pound box of 12/20 grit crushed walnut shells with a 4 oz. bag of premium red rouge polishing powder. Use this media in your vibrator for quick cleaning of brass inside and out. The red rouge really shines up brass. This will work in any brand of tumbler -- Lyman, Dillon, Lee, Hornady etc.
This walnut media is crushed walnut shells with no dust or fillers whatsoever. Organic and biodegradable, walnut shell is extremely durable, angular in shape but is considered a soft abrasive. Crushed walnut shells are hard multi-edged granules that will quickly remove dirt, residue and any other contaminate from your brass leaving it clean and ready to go.
Some folks like to use corn cob media while most others prefer walnut media. Walnut media is a little harder, cleans faster and lasts longer. We find that the walnut does a better job of cleaning the inside of the brass. Walnut produces less dust and the brass come out good-to-go while corn cob media tends to leave a little dust on the brass. While both work well, we prefer walnut over corn cob.
The 4 oz. of premium red rouge is enough to treat the 20 pounds of walnut media. Just 1/2 ounce is enough to dose 3 lbs. (Lyman 1200 tumbler full) of walnut media. Adding the premium red rouge polishing compound to the walnut shell will make your brass shine! Red rouge is the most commonly used brass polishing powder added to walnut media. Since the red rouge is a powder it will not gum up the media like some liquid additives can. Not only will it make your brass gleam but it also cuts down on the amount of time you need to leave the brass in the vibrator. The photo below shows 2 cases fired on the same day from the same box and with the same Ruger. Both were cleaned in a Lyman 1200 for 2 hours. The top one was in virgin untreated walnut media while the bottom one was in walnut media dosed with the red rouge. The picture does not do the shine justice! The pictured bag of red rouge is what will be included with the walnut media. Instructions are on the label.
