FP-45 Liberator Pistol 2nd Model Replica. Less than a 1000 pcs run of standard 3rd Model pistols was made by VintageOrdnance.com and only two of these were built. The pistol is a class 1 firearm and has a rifled barrel. The manufacturer information is discreetly stamped on the lower portion of the barrel in the trigger guard in 1/16th" characters on two lines "FP-45,.45 ACP/VOCO, E-town, KY" The only other marking is the serial number on the front of the grip frame. The firing pin hole is not fully drilled through and Vintage Ordnance Co. LLC does not advocate firing any Liberator pistol due to the inherent dangers in its design. Only slightly less rare than the 1st Model Liberator, this type corrected the problem of the cocking piece rotating during firing causing the firing pin to miss the hole in the breech block. The guide pin added to the top of the cocking piece was found to be too fragile to hold up to rough handling and recoil. As a result the cocking piece's zinc body was enlarged with the addition of a heavy boss on top to support a pressed in pin that resulted in the fully successful 3rd Model pistol. This 2nd Model cocking piece was made by hand in the ship, just like the original. See the website for detailed safety information regarding Liberator pistols.
