Buyer Tip: If you're the High Bidder in an auction when it closes, don't assume you're the final High Bidder. Someone could outbid you in the final seconds of the auction if your Max Bid isn't high enough. You're not the high Bidder until you've been notified by email that you are. Questions for Users
(Public)
Q:  Sir What condition do you rate this gun (receiver top and bottom, butt plate, barrel, case colors on the lever, wood condition). Its hard to determine from your pictures. Also could yuou give me the range your serial number falls in. Thanks for your time. Sincerely, Lance 09/18/2011
A:  The condition is stated in the auction. The rifle is over 100 years old and serial # matches date. It is an exceptional gun as most 1899s of this vintage are just beat, gray guns with poor bores. The receiver blue shows marks. The receiver (back then) were carbona blued which gives a bright blue but is more fragile than today's acid blue. Receiver wear is confined to fine scratching in the blue which shows up in the pictures. The barrel was rust blued back then and has a few small spots of old corrosion (outside). The lever case color is excellent, 90% at least. The wood is excellent. No cracks, splits or oil staining. It's an honest old gun with many extras that are also rare and quite expensive. The fact that it shoots as well as most modern rifles of it's type is an extra bonus. Hope this helps. 09/18/2011
