This is a Winchester 670A in 30-06. Winchester made several different versions of the Model 70 rifle over the years and this is one of them. I bought this rifle as a project rifle and tried glass bedding the action first. That worked pretty well except that I cracked the wooden stock when I reassembled the rifle after the bedding operation. I repaired the crack with epoxy and then couldn't get the action back in the wood stock. The wood stock is included in the auction and the action could be reinstalled in the wood stock by someone skilled enough to handle the inletting job. Right now the action is installed in a Ram Line stock which actually fits pretty well. I painted the barreled action a flat black color with Krylon from Walmart after filling the sight mounting screw holes in the barrel, I was trying to make the rifle into a tactical rifle. This 670A originally had a gloss blue finish and the bolt handle is still in the blue. The bolt itself is jewelled. I didn't do any trigger or action work, so, no worries there. The auction includes a Simmons 8 Point 3-9x40 scope which is already mounted in a set of Weaver rings and a nylon sling. You could hunt with this rifle like it is now, or use it as a project rifle for yourself or use the parts for a new custom Winchester rifle of your own.
