This is a very rare German Commission Model Kar-88 carbine in 8mm Mauser caliber. It was made by C.G Haenel in 1890 and so marked. Finish is original. Bore is good with some frosting but generally bright. The wood is original and retains its cartouches at the rear of the trigger guard. There is a small wood crack at the left rear of the tang that is solid with no evidence of growth. Bolt is matching. The piece has two unit markings, one on the middle band and one on the muzzle band showing service history in World War I. Comes with a repro sling for display purposes.
