This auction is for a beautiful vintage 1972 Weatherby Mark XXII 22 calibre semi auto rifle. For a nearly 40 year old example this Weatherby is in fantastic condition, I would rate the metal at 99% and the wood at 98% with a few light blemishes. This rifle according to my research was produced by Nikko, who was the first Japanese manufacturer contracted by Weatherby. Of note with early Nikko rifles, they put a high polish finish on the receivers where most are rather dull and flat. On these older Mark XXIIs if you've examined a lot of them, most show finish wear on the trigger guard, this one is pristine. This rifle also includes a Bushnell Sportview 4X scope with a duplex reticle that I mounted. The original Weatherby Mark XXII scopes that were produced for these rifles had integral mounts and really looked great on the rifles. I've had several only to discover they were not very good scopes. They had reticles that were very prone to breaking on the left horizontal bar portion. The scope I mounted has sharp crystal clear optics the winning bidder will be very pleased with. I have also added a set of Butler Creek Flip Up scope caps. The rifle will come with 2 Weatherby 10 shot magazines, and the original hang tag and owners manual. These Mark XXIIs are superlative quality high end rifles, especially the Italian and early Japanese examples. I downloaded several photos with different lighting to highlight just how beautiful this rifle is, still my photos don't do justice to this rifle.
