Here is a very nice DANISH MODEL 1867 ROLLING BLOCK rifle, built under license from REMINGTON. It is chambered for the 11.7 x 51 R Danish Remington cartridge, which is ballistically identical to the 45/70. While I do not recommend firing 45/70's in the gun, i have read accounts that people do this. These are a very interesting design in that the gun was originally designed for a rimfire cartridge, they were later converted to center fire. As you can see the face of the breech block has two holes. The Danes had vast stores of the rimfire ammuntion on hand, so the designed the conversion so that the same firing pin could be used for the rimfire cartridge by reversing it. The breech block also has a firing pin retractor to prevent accidental firing when cloing the block on a loaded chamber. This rifle is in excellent condition with matching numbers and an excellent, shiny bore. All markings are sharp and clear. The rear sight has a very tall leaf and is adjustable for elevation while the front sight is dovetailed and adjustable for windage. The tang has the DANISH arsenal markings and an 1880 date. Everything works fine, the action is crisp and tight. The wood is original and shows minimal handling marks of 131 years of use. The unit ID disc on the stock is unmarked. The receiver has faint traces of case colors while the barrel has a nice even patina with no rust or pitting. No cleaning rod. This is an ANTQUE so NO FFL is required. I will need the buyer to provide a signed proof of age and a statement that there are no state or local laws barring this purchase. This rifle will ship directly to you, CA SALES OK. Please include $40 shipping. FOREIGN SALES OK with additional shipping charges. NO RESERVE!!
