This is a Winchester Model 12 with a 27 3/4” barrel (measured from the muzzle to the end of the barrel threads) made in 1940 or early 1941. Serial numbers on barrel and receiver match 1225577. Bore is bright & shiny with no rust or pitting. The barrel & magazine retain about 85% of an old rust blue refinish. (Slight bluing loss at the muzzle and on the magazine tube.) The frame finish is in original condition with some factory blue remaining. Receiver looks good overall with a few small nicks in the metal, mostly where the slide bar enters the frame. Receiver to barrel lockup is tight. The original buttstock & forearm wood are in very good condition with the normal amount of small handling marks you’d expect to see on an old gun. The original hard rubber buttplate is free of cracks and chips. This WINCHESTER Model 12 would be a good everyday hunting gun (as is), or with a little hand polishing of the receiver, and a rust or nitre blue, would make for a pretty nice looking shotgun.
