Gun retains a pleasing age patina, appears to have been lightly cleaned at some point. Fine wood has a few light handling marks. The nipple is broken off, however, the gun is in good working order Brass mounted. Most of the parts have the number 21 stamped in them. Long range rear sight. Fine bore with strong rifling. JOSEPH WILSON makers mark on the bottom of the stock. This is a British made gun. They were imported in large numbers by both the north and the south for the Civil War. This gun could have fought on either side. Missing the front sling swivel which goes on the band.
