Six shot revolver caliber .38 S&W Special. Double action revolver built on the “K” frame. It a six inch barrel placing the weight at approximately 30 oz.’s Nickel finish approximately 75 to 80%. It has a 5 screws, four on the right side-plate and one in front of trigger guard. The finish shows wear on the frame in the places of the finger positions. Good Bright .38 Special Bore with a heat treated 6 shot fluted clean cylinder with the normal length of 1.56”. It has a scarce square butt with walnut stocks with a diamond around the grip screw escutcheon. Half penny front service sight. Fitted with a .265 smooth trigger and a checkered hammer. Barrel markings SMITH & WESSON on the left side and .38 S&W Special CTG. Top barrel markings of patent dates SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. USA PATENTED above OCT 8 01, DEC 17. 01 FEB 6. 06; SEPT 14. 09. DEC 29. 14. The serial number places date of manufacture in the 1920’s. Smith and Wesson monogram on frame under checkered cylinder release. 86525 inside cylinder frame visible upon opening. Serial on the square butt is in the 320,000’s not long after the third variation which did not include the heat-treated cylinder. This piece is a C&R.
