THIS IS NOT A REMINGTON; IT IS A WELL MADE CHINESE COPY OF A REMINGTON 870. The last time we had so much fun with Chinese Guns was 1993 amid the flood of SKS rifles. Here is an excellent Chinese copy, and in some respects an improvement on, the workhorse Remington 870. Since the 870 was introduced in 1950, its patent probably expired in 2000, hence these excellent tributes to the Wingmaster. These are imports from IAC, Interstate Arms Co. of Billerica, Massachusetts, and they are fine shotguns. Finish is entirely matte black with classic corncob 870P type forends in black synthetic, and matching buttstock with a nice thick recoil pad. Sight is the classic and popular military Ghost Ring peep sight setup. Weight empty is about 7 1/2 pounds. Note the mar on the finish. It's a safe assumption that none of the 982 Hawks will be cosmetically perfect, and these most emphatically are NOT seconds. Credit finish mars to the rice paper boxes that these come in, even though Chinese boxmanship has improved over the last decade. Nevertheless these are solid, quality shotguns and attractive finishwise. All of them are brand new in their original boxes, and we take great pains with rice-boxed guns when we ship them. Note the high visibility orange follower. Magazine capacity is five rounds on these, note the extended section of the magazine forward of the barrel lug. Capacity, then, is a total of 6 rounds of either 2 3/4 inch or 3 inch shells. Choke constriction is standard Cylinder Bore, .718 - .720.
