Stock Configuration & Condition: Lightly varnished smooth wood. The wood shows a fair amount of mars, scratches and dings, primarily on the left side at the forearm. There are no cracks or losses.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Factory Original
Overall Condition: Overall, this gun retains approximately 90% finish. There is some wear evident throughout and some scattered and freckled surface rust. There are a few small areas of erosion on the barrel and tube, just forward of the wood. The markings are clear, the screw heads are serviceable. Aside from the poor storage issues mentioned (surface rust, erosion and dings to the wood), this is a strong condition Winchester rifle. The gun is also missing the screw that holds the stock to the barreled action on the underside of the wood, forward of the trigger guard.
Bore Condition: The bore is good with visible rifling and some minor fowling with a few small areas of erosion.
Mechanics: The gun functions as designed.
Box: No Box
Our Assessment: This is a great little Winchester (Pre-64) Semi Auto .22 Rifle. Some oil, a good cleaning and a replacement screw will bring this gun back to a really sharp piece.
