At auction is a DESTROYER 9MM Bergmann CARBINE. Spanish proofmarked, it was manufactured after 1910. 39 1/2" long, it weighs only 5 3/4 lbs, it was built in Eibar by Gaztanaga y Compania up until 1960. The 21" barrel is lightly rusted between lands. Similar in design to the Spanish Mauser 93 action, the bolt handle has been welded. The front receiver ring has an oval logo showing a ship and the words "DESTROYER and TRADE MARK" next to proofmarks on both the barrel and receiver. The rear folding ladder sight is graduated to 700 meters, considered to be ambitious. 9mm Bergmann is also known as Bergmann-Bayard and 9mm Largo. A seven round magazine fits flush to the magazine housing.
