Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Savage Arms Corp. -- Savage model 99, 300 savage

PRICE REDUCED. Up for auction is a Savage model 99 chambered in the popular 3oo Savage. This rifle was manufactured in 1949. The blue is only about 10% and the stock is worn and has a few nicks and scratches from use not abuse. The stock doesn’t have the normal crack at the rear of the tang. The barrel is 23” and the bore is dark and could use a good cleaning. The rear sight is missing the elevator. This is a consignment piece so I know very little about the rifle. Please email me with any questions you may have about this auction. Edit 01/03/12, Rear sight and elevator have been replaced

Questions for Users

Q:  Is the cartridge counter steel or brass colored? No tang or wrist cracks at all? Has it been D&T'ed? Thanks, John 12/19/2010
A:  John, The counter is brass There are no cracks that I can find. I did fail to mention that someone has put a coat of finish on the stock without sanding the nicks and dings out. Thanks for looking. Dave 12/20/2010

Q:  Can you send me the lever boss code and the first five or six digits of the serial number so I can get an exact date on the rifle? The lever boss code is a letter and a number stamped in a small oval on the front of the lever boss about an inch or two below the serial number. thx, jbb amarillo, tx savage99yahoogroups***GunAuction*** 01/15/2012
A:  The numbers are 26A on the lever boss and the sr# 527013 01/16/2012

Q:  I was wondering how the bore and barrel look. I'm looking for a savage 99 to hunt with. Was going to get a Marlin 30/30 but I've read a lot about savages and they seem like a much superior firearm. I'm wary of buying from an auction but if its in food condition I will. 02/26/2012
A:  The bore is bright with pretty good rifling. There is no pitting that I can see. The rifle has been well cared for. 02/26/2012
