Hopkins & Allen Arms Co. Forehand Model 1901 .32 M&H Cal. Hammerless 5 shot revolver
The "Forehand Model 1901" was introduced by Hopkins & Allen in 1901 after the acquisition of the Forehand Arms Co. facilities in 1899/1900. It seems to be generally accepted this model was discontinued about 1910 when the Hopkins & Allen '”Safety Police" model was introduced. There are two books on Hopkins & Allen, both by Charles E. Carder (in reprint by Fairway Press). Both of these books offer little information about when H&A models were manufactured and have no SR# data. Early production of the “Forehand Model 1901” were simply Forehand Arms Co. models. The Forehand Arms Co. designed top break revolvers dating to before 1890 (Forehand & Wadsworth top break revolvers). The “Forehand Model 1901” was an obsolete design and was only manufactured until H&A could rebuild their factory after it was destroyed by a fire around 1898/1899.
This Hopkins & Allen “Forehand Model 1901” is in excellent condition. The nickel plating is 98%+. The action is functional and there is no evidence of rust or corrosion. The barrel is 3” long and the bore is very good, sharp rifling with only minor evidence of mild corrosion in spots. There is a small crack on the butt of the right hard rubber grip panel. That is the only defect on this revolver. We believe the caliber is .32 Merwin & Hulbert Long. We rate this gun as NRA Fine.

BEFORE YOU ASK WHAT THE RESERVE IS, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING…
We do not disclose the Reserve on our “RESERVE AUCTIONS” because doing so defeats the purpose of the auction. Disclosing makes it a “Sale”, not an auction, much like a classified listing. Most of the firearms we offer at auction are on consignment with us from one of our clients. Our commitment to our clients is to obtain the highest fair market price possible for their firearms. Thus, we prefer the Reserve Auction and the “HAGGLE” feature offered by Auction Arms. About 50% of our sales are completed via the Haggle. In a Reserve auction if the high bidder does not reach the reserve buy to end the auction the high bidder or the seller may institute what Auction Arms calls a Haggle a one-on-one exchange between buyer and seller to try and come to a mutual agreement on a price. If you are not familiar with the Haggle process, click on Auction Arms “Help & Info” for complete details. For those items that are not on consignment we usually offer a convenient “Buy-It-Now” price.
