Description

Seller's Description:
Winchester Model 73 Rifle, caliber 38-40

Very nice condition Model 73 Rifle Manufacured in 1882, S/N 342285B This gun is authenticated by the Winchester museum. This is a working gun. It has been fired and verified to load and shoot. Take a look at the pictures. No FFL Required

BORE
I have studied the bore on this rifle and I am rating is to the best of my ability. I have never seen a brand new model 73 bore. I looked up a bore rating system and my rating is between a 6 and 7. The bore is slightly shiny and you can see the rifling from one end of the barrel to the other. The bore is not perfectly smooth but there are no large pits. With work, the bore may be able to shine more though I remember working on it some when I bought it.

6 = good rifling, minor pitting
7 = shiny, some wear, minor pitting

I am a new seller here but have 1124 transactions on eBay with 0 bad ratings

Q:  Hi. Is there any pitting inside the bore? Any cracks, repairs, or holes in the wood? Thank you. 06/12/2010
A:  There are no cracks or holes in the wood. The are some small nicks that have darkened over the years.     Q:  Hello, Is the bore pitted or rough? Is the rifling worn or pronounced? Is the action still tight? Thanks 06/14/2010
A:  The action seems tight to me. Not factory fresh but I do not detect any looseness. There was no difficulty in feeding shells and firing the gun. It was tested with modern 38-40 ammunition. I did not fire the gun more than 20 or 30 rounds.     Q:  Hello, Since the Old Rifle is considered an antique, does it require a FFL, or can it be shipped direct? Thanks, Tony. 06/15/2010
A:  This rifle was made before the cut-off date and does not require an FFL. I can ship it to you. Steve 06/15/2010

Q:  What is the barrel length? Is the wood sound, does it have any cracks, repairs, or refinishing? 06/15/2010
A:  It is a rifle not a carbine. The length is 24". The wood is sound. No refinishing or repairs and no cracks. There are small small nicks that have darkened. The wood is in quite good condition. 06/15/2010

Q:  Can You describe its finish. Is it the original finish, or has it been re-blued? Can you describe the condition of its lettering? Thank you, Bob Reagan 06/17/2010
A:  Original finish, No rebluing. I am not sure how to describe the lettering. It is legible. I can read without a magnifying glass - Winchester Repeating Arms New Haven Conn. U.S.A. Kings Improvement Patented March 29, 1866 OCTOBER 16 1860 Hope this helps. 06/17/2010

Q:  Ebay is about as antigun as they come, is there a reason to brag about using them? 06/17/2010
A:  I used them as a reference to my integrity selling since I am unknown here. No complaints in over 1000 transactions. They are not really set up to sell arms. I sold model train products. 06/17/2010
