Seller's Description: The auction you're looking at is for a J.C. Higgins Model 88 revolver. JC Higgins were sold through the Sears Roebuck retail network. The Model 88 was subcontracted out and manufactured by High Standard. Model 88's are re-badged copies of the High Standard Sentinel. This Model 88 is a 9-shot revolver chambered for .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle. The revolver has a 6" barrel and was advertised to have an anodyzed aluminum frame, a high-tensile carbon steel barrel and cylinder, single-stroke multiple ejection, a swing-out counterbored cylinder, a movable square-notched rear sight, a non-slip scored trigger, a diamond-checkered grip (though they didn’t mention it was plastic), with target accuracy. The revolver is in very good condition. The blue steel barrel and cylinder has 80% plus of it’s finish with a little rub mark on the muzzle end of the barrel, (probably from holster wear) with some surface rust. The cylinder has some very small scratches, which will probably clean right up with a little work. The frame is in good condition with a few scratches from the extractor (every one of these models that I have seen have the same scratches). The barrel is clean and bright, same as the cylinder chambers, with no pitting or rust. The grips are in excellent condition, no cracks and just a few little scratches. Sorry to say that I don’t have the box or manual for the gun. Serial #583880. STK. #T-14-3 This JC Higgins was purchased from an estate sale and has not been test-fired by us. Even though this revolver appears to be in excellent working order, we recommend that you take it to a professional gunsmith before firing it. This firearm can only be sent to an FFL holder.
