Seller's Description:
A NOTE TO MY BIDDERS: I will NOT contact you either during or after this auction to offer you the gun at a reduced price. Please consider any such contact as a scam attempt...don't get taken!NO RESERVE!! Here's an unusual item that is seldom seen. This is a Colt Series 70 Combat Commander with a vintage Seecamp double-action conversion. The Seecamp conversion was an ingenious concept designed by Louis Seecamp (founder of L.W. Seecamp, makers of the now famous LWS32 Seecamp pocket pistol) which updated the Colt 1911 to DA/SA operation. The double-action conversion got the company started but from what I have been able to determine, only about 2000 were produced on various 1911 type pistols. This is an original Seecamp conversion as can be determined by the work and the small LWS stamped on the side of the trigger guard. It allows a double action first shot with normal single action follow-up shots. The pistol can still be carried "cocked and locked" if desired and the function of the thumb safety and grip safety remain unchanged. The new internal parts are serial numbered to the gun and the original serial number was relocated to the bottom of the dust cover. The trigger guard was reshaped and checkered. Field stripping remains unchanged from that of the standard Colt 1911 and it uses standard Colt magazines. Overall condition is excellent with about 96% blue finish remaining. There are some light handling and carry marks, but there is no rust or pitting. It has a beavertail grip safety and an extended thumb safety. The ejection port has been recontoured, both front and rear grip straps finely checkered, and fixed tritium night sights were added (the sights are dated 94 and while they still do work, have become somewhat dim). The mechanics are in perfect working order and the bore is excellent. A neat piece of firarms manufacturing history and a dandy vintage carry gun. Buyer pays $20.00 shipping.
