Description

Seller's Description:
Gun: This is a Colt New Army Model 1903 U.S. Army Double Action Revolver manufactured in 1903. The gun is serial numbered 209615. 9615 is found on the cylinder lock gate, cylinder swing arm and frame. 805, an "8", an "R" and a "K" are stamped on the underside of the barrel. "K.S.M." and "J.E.H." are stamped on the left side of the frame. An "R" is stamped on the frame at the swing arm and a "K" is stamped on the swing arm. The top of the barrel has the two line 1905 barrel address. The heel of the frame is stamped "U.S. / Army / Model / 1903 -- No. 209 / 615". The rear face of the cylinder has two "R.A.C." stamps. The gun is parts complete. The grips are original colt hard rubber.

Condition: This gun retains approximately 85% original finish. The gun has some moderate scattered pitting throughout and some signs of attempted cleaning on the right side of the gun. All but the J.E.H. stamp are deep and clear. The action works, but the lock up needs some adjustment as it over rotates every 10th round or so. The bore is strong with sharp lands and grooves and no pitting. Despite the scattered pitting, the gun retains a very good overall appearance.

Included with the auction is a photocopy on heavy stock paper of the New DA Army And Navy Revolvers section from Warren Tiift's 1952 book "Colt Cartridge Pistols."

Q:  this pistol only shoot a 38 S/W round? or will it shoot a 38 sp round? 11/28/2009
A:  A .38 Spl. round will not chamber in a .38 S&W, the round is too long. Thanks for looking, LSB 11/30/2009
