Thread Title: "Feelings on reloads"
RELOADER_2010

I was asked by a friend to find some factory HP ammo in 9x18 Mak. Found 2 boxes. I asked the seller who made this ammo ? and THE SELLER SAYS " A small company called 4H of Scottsdale Az. They are a small custom loader that caters to HIGH END users such as celebrities, bodyguards, politicians. 95% of their ammunition is for self-protection." unquote. So I figured no problem I will look up the company to do a little research. Only thing is They don't come up on search :ie. manta, yellow book,BBB, Scottsdale Chamber Of commerce  Nothing. So I ask the seller what is their address and phone # to ask them for some credentials. ( 06 FFL license # & how long they have been in business) Here it comes. Seller says: "They are hobbyist they don't need to be licensed to make and sell ammo." WRONG ANSWER. This guy LIES and first told me they were a business Now the story has changed. SCAM STAY AWAY. Auction #'s 10390452, 10390445

I wouldn't have made a big deal about it had he just been honest. But no he had to lie. DISHONEST

I would not buy these reloads because there is no load data listed so that I could check to make sure he is not overloading them.

The hand I would save is MINE!!

If he passes along what his load is, powder, charge wieght, and if he has checked that his scale for wieghing powder charges. Is it tested with check weights for accuracy, Then I would think about buying them.

I also reload over 30 different calibers so I hesitate to buy anyones reloads.

Just my $.02

Stan

I am very precise and meticulous with my reloads and therefore would never shoot anyone elses. I trust myself but there are those out their who I know are not as safe so why take a chance. JMHO

stan - Well, if he is less than "up front" about his operation, what would make you think he would be any more honest about his load data?   Undecided

It is not legal to be a hobbyist selling reloads. You are either a manufactrer or you are not a manufacturer. If he is reloading for sale, he is a manufacturer. Proper licensing needs to be had or he is afoul of the BATF rules and regs. 'Course, if he is a BOUTIQUE reloader doing so for celebrities, politicians and high profile people, then all bets are off because we all know they have a different set of rules that apply to thier saintly souls. Sarcasm off. Bottom line, don't trust anybody else's reloads unless done by a licensed manufacturer and one who does so to SAAMI specs and does so under the same tight controls and specs as an OEM maker. There ARE plenty of makers out there who qualify for that, such as Bullseye, etc.
