Thread Title: "Tred Barta"
Hagrid

I was watching tv the other night and was blown away when Tred Barta appeared in a wheel chair. This was the most energetic man I have ever seen. It must be a bitch to suddenly go from running up mountains chasing game to having you best bud have to push you where you want to go. We all should thank the good Lord everyday for whatever heath we have. I just finish a prostate biopsy yesterday and so far it looked ok but the results won't be back for a few days. It has given me pause to consider that nasty word CANCER and the fear it strikes into the heart. To go from doing anything you want to do in the hunting and fishing world to nearly nothing must be devastating.      Trapper

TB had a "spinal stroke" almost a year ago. He still hunts with his longbow & and flint points ( I watched him kill a buck from the wheelchair 2 days ago on TV) and is still catching monster fish. He is "Ted Nugent's daddy", one badass, real man. We need more TED'S AND TREAD'S around. WALI.................

Trapper  -  Good luck on that biopsy.  It's three years almost to the day since I got my new Dacron aorta. Three years ago I had more tubes coming out of me than there are holes to stick them in, plus a couple of electrodes as I was too cut up for the paddles again, but here I am.  Let me tell you, it slows you down a bit, but it sure does beat the alternative.  You deal with what the He sends you, and thank Him for everyday you have, and for the skills of the doctors and the wonder of modern medicine.

Hagrid-if the MD don't think it was cancer before the biopsy it's probably not, they can usually tell from the DRE and PSA numbers, the biopsy  is his way of covering his a$$..But if you ever have to get it that's the place you want it,slowest growing, many different-easy treatments and a super high cure success rate. But let me say good luck anyway.

Kenden-know what you are saying,i had two major ones in a three month span after never having anything near a major illness my whole life.Just takes a while to get back especially when we get older. This stage of life the old saying comes into play"you got'a play the hand you're dealt"

I was only 44 when I had my chest cracked for a quad bypass and it still took me a couple of months to get back up to speed again.  I'll probably have to have another one someday and I'm not looking forward to it.  Yer absolutely right, Ken and Hart.  I love that Irish proverb "Dance as if no one can see you; Sing as if no one could hear;  Live as if every day will be your last".  I like it because the last line is going to come to pass someday and I'd hate to think I'd wasted a day of my borrowed time.

I've had the three heart attacks and been shot at but missed because I had enough sense to duck, Snake!  Is that shrapnel or the metal plate in your noggin which sets off the metal detector?  Laughing

I wish I could get stents the next time around but for some reason I can't.

I was stretchin it a bit on the schrapnel. Just got two little pieces. Could be the top cap plate . I have a time everytime I fly.

Ya know, everytime I see Wussie, I think of my last squadron I served with, "The warriors of the north", Told the wing commander we were the Wussie's of the north, and I went into nauseating details why. He walked off muttering, "Can't argue with that". Thus endeth the lesson!
