The last one I shot had to be the stupidest whistle pig I've ever seen. I was attempting to sight in a friend's scoped 10-22 without much success (I think it's a loose reticle) and this knucklehead comes out of the brush about 20 feet away from me - so I took a shot at him. He flinched, stopped, and just looked at me. I took another shot, again missing but noting where the round struck. He still didn't move. I calculated the proper windage and elevation from the first two misses and the third round nailed him. |

The shot wasn't very far about 35 yds but was alot of green folage from the tomato plants and tomato cages were closer together and could only see him when he stood up eating and checking around(for me I suppose).Days before I caught him and he heard me and took off and I could see the plants move but not see him.I got lucky this time.I sighted the 17 in for 100yds and I aimed at his neck and thats where it ended up.I have sighted in hipower cal's for 100-200 and when I had a real close shot I ended up shooting high so I made sure this time. When I was a young fella I sighted my 06 in for 200yds and I snuck up on a sleeping fox about 75yds and I shot and shot high, parted his hairs and he took off like you press the start button but I took him on the run. There were alot of fox in those days and they come down with the mange and screwed the fox hunting. Now its coyotes I'm guning for and have to wait til it snows. |

That .17 is a mighty flat shooting little round. BTW, I did get that chuck on the run with the third shot. A little Kentucky windage and elevation and a lot of dumb luck! |
